Study of the Psalms – Psalm 18

Psalm 18

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings in our Savior’s name! We continue our Psalms study with Psalm 18. As I have settled into my new weekly work routine, I am discovering that it is easier for me to get these studies out on Wednesdays and Fridays rather than Tuesdays and Thursdays. So that is what I will do moving forward. Today we begin Psalm 18. Psalm 18 is 50 verses long and I have divided it into three lessons.

Today’s lesson covers Psalm 18:1-15 and it is set against David’s God-given victories over his enemies. In today’s lesson David tells us why he comes to the Lord, how he asks the Lord, and we see a Theophany in response. The Theophany of verses 7-15 is both terrifying and awe-inspiring; the God whose presence shakes the earth is a powerful God who is on our side!

In Christ’s name and service,

Pastor Robert Weller
