Study of Psalms – Psalm 30

Psalm 30

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

It has been a couple weeks since I sent out a psalm study, but here is the next one. Psalm 30 is both a psalm of trust and a psalm that sets itself in a specific historical circumstance. It is a psalm that was associated with David bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. It has also become a psalm used by Jewish people at the Feast of Hannukah as they celebrate the rededication of the temple following its desecration by Antiochus Epiphanes.

The psalm is a psalm also of hope as it holds out before us the reminder that God will deliver us. “Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning”. I pray this psalm is of great strength for you when you need it most.

In Christ’s name and service,

Pastor Robert Weller
