HOLY COMMUNION AT SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY
![]()
We normally celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month. The second and fifth Sunday of the Month we use our historical liturgy found on page 15 of The Lutheran Hymnal (TLH). The Fourth Sunday of the Month follows the liturgy found on page 46 of The Lutheran Hymnal. Both services offer individual glasses and the common cup to the communicants.
Lutherans hold the belief that “in, under and with the bread and wine is offered the true body and blood of Christ.” We also believe that this sacrament is a communion that celebrates our unity of faith, hope, life, and community. Reception of this sacrament by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness which does not yet exist, and for which we all must pray. For these reasons, we wish visitors and guests speak with Pastor Weller prior to approaching the Lord’s table. We thank your for your respect of our teaching and we pray that your worship with us will bring you strength in your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
