Brothers and sisters in Christ,
I want to apologize for only getting one Psalm study out last week. We were preparing for the opening of the preschool and my time simply got away from me. Also in today’s video I begin by talking about the times we are currently in and are they the end times. I have had numerous members and others ask me if we are in the end times. Certainly many of the things going on in the world today are things that are also given in the Gospels as signs of the end times. Yet God’s will is that we would always be ready. Matthew 24:44, For this reason you must always be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. We should always be ready for Christ’s return and the things happening in the world are signs and reminders to be ready. So the question to be asked is: how are we made ready? By being in God’s Word and receiving forgiveness through Word and Sacrament we are made ready for Christ’s return.
Today’s psalm study is Psalm 24. Psalm 24 shows us the Creator God and asks the question of who may be in His presence. The answer is no one on their own and everyone because of Christ. The end of the psalm brings us the text for one of the great Advent hymns, “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Gatesâ€. I pray this study serves to focus us on Christ and in so doing we are made ready for His return.
In Christ’s name and service,
Pastor Robert Weller
