Study of Psalms – Psalm 27

Psalm 27

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

We are surrounded by difficulties: pandemic, wildfires, poor air quality, social unrest. Psalm 27 comes to us for times such as these. David in the psalm gives us perspective, hope, and confidence. Yet the psalm also recognizes the truth that faith and fear, hope and despair, confidence and trepidation often live side by side in the heart while we live this life. It is perfectly possible and even probably that we can be a people of faith for whom fear still raises its head. As along as we are in this world, we are sinners. Yet the psalm also calls us to look to Him who overcomes all these difficulties. “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?”

I pray that this study will be a source of reassurance and comfort for you in these difficult days.

Keep an eye open for a couple of additional emails. The first will be regarding church this Sunday and it will be sent out tomorrow. The AQI in San Jose is currently over 180. If it as that level or at any unhealthy level for Sunday we will not be able to meet outdoors. Another email will be sent out in the first part of next week for the upcoming Thursday night bible study on Zoom. We will be studying 1 and 2 Peter. If you have questions about that or anything else please let me know.

In Christ’s name and service,

Pastor Robert Weller
